Mission and Background

To expose mainstream and under-served youth to excellence in professional dance instruction and performance and to provide opportunities to develop student talent through accelerated training. In fulfilling this mission, the Center for Dance Education seeks to instill discipline, build confidence, and inspire a positive world view.
 

Center for Dance Education is an umbrella of programs, including:

• Assembly Programs

• Health & Wellness Initiative

• Danbury Dance Initiative

• Share the Magic Student Performances

• Accelerated Training Scholarships

All of the above services are provided as contracted services or tuition-free with the help of philanthropic dollars. For the past five years, our corporate sponsor has been Travelers Companies. We are very grateful for their support.
 

Our educational programs were established in response to a perceived need for access to dance instruction and accelerated training opportunities for youth. Since 1991, the geographic range of our programs has developed to include districts and institutions throughout the state of Connecticut. Toward that end, we have developed a strong network of community-based social service partners with whom we work to deliver educational programs throughout Connecticut.
