Accelerated Training Scholarships
The Dance Exposure Project is an effort to ‘even the playing field’ for low-income or at-risk students in the Stamford and Norwalk school districts. With the help of generous individuals and area foundations including Stamford Rotary, Gen Re and Geneve Foundation, Dance Exposure Project Scholarships provide tuition-free dance training to under-served youth who have demonstrated talent and a drive to dance. Students are encouraged to participate through annual outreach auditions and satellite classes in local elementary schools.
Artistic Director Brett Raphael and/or local dance professionals nominate individual students for the scholarships after consultation with parents and school administrators. Emphasis is placed on serving youngsters ages 9-18 and families who would not otherwise be able to afford accelerated training in their field of study. Stamford & Norwalk students attend year-long or summer intensive classes at our affiliated school, Connecticut Ballet Center.
