Ballet Ambassadors

Who do we serve?
Our Ballet Ambassador Program provides underwritten tickets to social service agencies, senior living facilities, and educational programs serving those who would otherwise not have access to a mainstage ballet production at The Bushnell or Stamford's Palace Theatre. We seek to break down historical barriers to attendance by marginalized populations in our community. Such barriers include the high cost of tickets, transportation to and from the theater, and social barriers which have stigmatized low-income persons and/or persons of color. A frequent question asked by a newcomer is 'What do I have to wear?,' the assumption being that one has to be dressed 'to the nines' to attend a ballet performance. Not so!

Ballet Ambassadors personally welcome our new-attenders to the theater in order that their experience is entirely positive and they will wish to join us ongoingly as a member of our diverse regional audience. In past seasons, we have hosted groups from CRT's The Retreat, Bloomfield Seniors, Maple Avenue Neighborhood Revitalization Group, Mt. Olive Baptist Church Youth Ministry, Hartford Young Scholars, Inspirica, Starfish Connection, and more.

If you have a group you would like to recommend to us for possible inclusion in this unique audience development program, please email us at: ctballet@ix.netcom.com.

Would you consider becoming an Ambassador?

Connecticut Ballet is seeking ambassadors-at-large to serve on our emerging Ballet Ambassador Council. The effort is designed to increase diversity and inclusion in our theater audiences and make the beauty of ballet accessible to all. We’re recruiting a dedicated group of people who want to share their enthusiasm for this art form with their network to expand the greater Hartford and greater Stamford audiences and establish a thriving contingency of diverse audience members across economic and racial divides.

What does a Ballet Ambassador do?

  • Serve as an advocate for the ballet in the community by sharing upcoming events and access to free theater tickets with friends, family and colleagues

  • Help us find ways to remove barriers to attendance amongst marginalized sectors of the community

  • Serve as a feedback mechanism for us. Did your guests feel comfortable in the theater? Did the performance resonate with them? Would they recommend it to others?

What do you receive in return?

  • Up to four complimentary tickets to performances at The Bushnell or The Palace

  • Invitations to attend special ‘backgrounder’ luncheons hosted by Brett Raphael, Connecticut Ballet Artistic Director joined by dancers and members of the artistic team

  • Invitations to studio rehearsals, so you’ll be among the first to see new works in progress

  • The satisfaction of knowing that you helped develop a strong, diverse and sustainable audience for Connecticut Ballet in the future
